The Italian Health Minister, Orazio Schillaci, has reported that the death toll from West Nile virus has reached 12, with 145 confirmed cases this year. Of these, 59 are severe neuroinvasive forms. The situation is considered under control, and the ministry recommends preventive measures such as the use of repellents and the elimination of stagnant water. Compared to previous years, the number of cases was lower in 2023.
