Italy's tourism ministry proposes measures to ensure sustainable tourism while protecting cultural and natural heritage. Initiatives include the creation of a national fund, financed by tourism taxes, to support local projects. Regulations include a ban on short-term rentals in Florence and higher tourist tax in Rome and Naples. Venice will also introduce an entry fee for day visitors, and beaches in Sardinia and Lampedusa will require reservations for access. These measures are planned for implementation in summer 2025.
