Israel on Wednesday shelled several targets in Damascus, including the defense ministry, following threats to step up attacks on government forces that do not withdraw from the city of Swayda, where violence has left nearly 250 dead. Israeli officials have emphasized that they will not allow military build-up on Syria's southern border. Following the attacks, the Syrian news agency reported one dead and 18 wounded. The US envoy to Syria called for a ceasefire dialog.
