Of the 153 seats already allocated out of a total of 174 in the lower house of parliament, Deputy Prime Minister Michael Martin's Fianna Fail has won 40 and Prime Minister Simon Harris's Fine Gael 33.

To form a majority, a party or coalition must win at least 88 seats.
