The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the capture of two ships, MSC Francesca and Epaminodes, in the Strait of Hormuz, accusing them of endangering maritime security by operating without authorization and manipulating navigation systems. The IRGC statement emphasizes that the ships were escorted to the shores of Iran, and disrupting order in the strait is considered a "red line." It is also mentioned that the Francesca ship is said to have links to Israel, without providing evidence. The announcement comes in the context of former President Donald Trump reaffirming the U.S. blockade against Iran, and U.S. forces recently capturing an Iranian ship. The Fars news agency reported that, in fact, three ships were targeted, including a Greek-flagged ship, Euphoria, which is now blocked off the coast of Iran. This tense situation highlights the security challenges in the region, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic point for maritime trade.
