Iran has launched missiles at the American-British base Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.

Iran launched two ballistic missiles with intermediate range targeting the American-British joint naval base on Diego Garcia Island, according to the Wall Street Journal. Neither missile hit the target, one having a defect during flight, and an American warship attempted to neutralize the second missile with an SM-3 interceptor. The Pentagon declined to comment on the incident, and the White House and the British Ministry of Defence did not provide immediate responses.

Diego Garcia, a strategic base for the US, is located at the center of a diplomatic dispute between the United Kingdom, the United States, and Mauritius. President Trump criticized the British Prime Minister's refusal to allow the use of the base for attacks against Iran, emphasizing its importance in the context of tensions with Tehran.
