Chinese vessels have concentrated in the waters of the southern Yellow Sea, the East China Sea, and the South China Sea, with over 90 ships operating in the region, decreasing compared to the beginning of the week. This naval activity is more extensive than the deployment from December last year, which prompted Taiwan to raise its alert level. Currently, China is in its traditional military exercise season, although it has not announced any large-scale official exercises. Tensions have increased following comments from the Japanese Prime Minister regarding a possible Chinese attack on Taiwan, which could provoke a military response from Japan.
Taiwan has confirmed that it is monitoring Chinese naval activity and that there are no reasons for concern regarding national security. Additionally, Beijing has increased its naval deployment following protests against the Japanese comments, which has been interpreted as a test of regional reactions. Although Chinese activity is considered significant, officials in the region do not see it as a major threat, but rather as routine exercises.
