India claims that it can meet the high demand for electricity in the summer, despite the gas crisis in the Middle East.

Pankaj Agarwal, the Indian Secretary for Energy, stated that although natural gas accounts for only 2% of total electricity production, the country uses about 8 gigawatts of gas energy during peak periods. The war between the United States and Israel against Iran has affected gas supplies, but India is preparing to restart a 4-gigawatt coal plant in Gujarat and activate wind projects. The government is also working on completing battery energy storage projects, estimating that it will have enough resources to cover the maximum electricity demand, which is 270 gigawatts during the day.

India has produced one billion tons of coal for the second consecutive year, which could ensure the energy needs during the summer.
