India, with a population of approximately 1.42 billion inhabitants, is facing a decline in the fertility rate, which has reached 2 children per woman between 2019-2021, compared to 3.4 in 1992-1993. Officials warn that low birth rates may lead to an aging population and economic pressures. In this context, the state of Andhra Pradesh has announced a financial incentive program, offering 30,000 rupees for the third child and 40,000 rupees for the fourth. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the importance of perceiving children as a wealth.

The state of Sikkim also offers maternity and paternity leave, as well as financial support for in vitro fertilization. The Hindu organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has also supported the need to encourage large families, warning about demographic imbalances. This shift in birth policy aligns with trends observed in other Asian states that, after decades of declining birth rates, have begun to promote policies to stimulate it.
