India has reacted vehemently to the new 50% tariffs imposed by President Trump, calling them unfair and unjustified. The Indian Foreign Ministry emphasized that these measures are a response to India's purchases of Russian oil, accusing the US of hypocrisy. India also explained that oil imports from Russia have increased significantly as traditional supplies have been diverted to Europe after the start of the war in Ukraine. Trump has threatened India with further penalties for trade relations with Russia.
