American forces launched a Hellfire missile attack on Tuesday to destroy a tanker attempting to breach the American blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have attacked the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, using missiles and drones, a claim that US Central Command (Centcom) denied.

These attacks underscore the lack of political progress in resolving the crisis in the Middle East, despite optimistic statements from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who stated that an agreement with Iran was close, mentioning that the regime was willing to negotiate aspects of its nuclear program.
