In September 2025, foreign direct investments in Bulgaria increased to 473 million euros, compared to 370.2 million euros in the same period of 2024, which represents 2.3% of the estimated GDP of the country, up from 2% last year. The main sources of positive net FDI in the period from January to September 2025 were the Netherlands, Italy, and Greece, while the largest net outflows were to the United States and Luxembourg.
Investments in the real estate sector had a negative impact, totaling minus 15.9 million euros, an increase compared to minus 7.1 million euros in 2024. On the other hand, capital inflows were positive, reaching 316.7 million euros, and reinvested profits increased significantly, reaching 3.118 billion euros compared to 2.013 billion euros in the first nine months of 2024.
