Hurricane Erin, the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, intensified rapidly Saturday, reaching Category 5 strength before temporarily losing strength and then regaining strength. Erin is not expected to make a direct hit on the islands, but is forecast to bring up to 15.2cm of rain to the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Bahamas.
