A Hungarian Air Force Gripen fighter jet crashed near the town of Szolnok, located about 100 kilometers east of Budapest.
The Hungarian Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, announced that the pilot managed to eject and survived the accident, and an investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the crash, which remain unknown.
The Hungarian Minister of Defense is heading to the incident site.
So far, no casualties have been reported among the civilian population or damage to civilian infrastructure.
The Hungarian Air Force operates Gripen aircraft for the defense of national and NATO airspace, having 18 Gripen C/D aircraft in its inventory.
