The Prime Minister of Hungary, Peter Magyar, announced the intention to lower the voting age to 16 as part of the upcoming constitutional reform process. He argues that young people under 18 are sufficiently prepared and informed to contribute to political decisions.

Magyar emphasized that the work of the National Assembly has become more dynamic, attracting the interest of young people and bringing politics back to the center of public attention. At the same time, he mentioned the importance of professionalism in politics, making a parallel with a historical incident from 1912. Recently, Hungary adopted a constitutional amendment that allows for the dismissal of the president and the president of the Constitutional Court, paving the way for a major restructuring of the governance system. Magyar promised a reorganization of the state to eliminate entrenched political control and abolish "modern feudalism" in the country.
