The Hungarian Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, announced that Hungary will block the adoption of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia by the European Union, scheduled for Monday.
The decision comes in response to Ukraine's blocking of the transit of Russian oil to Hungary through the Druzhba pipeline. Szijjarto stated that as long as Ukraine does not allow oil deliveries, Hungary will not support measures that affect Russia. Although Russia is already facing numerous sanctions from the EU, Kaja Kallas, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, mentioned that efforts will be made to adopt new measures, even though there is no agreement among member states. Kallas emphasized that existing sanctions have a severe impact on the Russian economy.
