In a statement to Fox News, Lutnick emphasized that if negotiations with the European Union are unsuccessful, 30% tariff surcharges will be applied. Donald Trump is meeting with EC President Ursula von der Leyen to discuss a customs deal, with a 50-50% chance of reaching a consensus. Tariffs are a main tool in Trump's economic policy.
