On Saturday evening, 25 hot air balloons entered the airspace of Lithuania, causing the closure of Vilnius airport and affecting 30 flights. These balloons were carrying 12,000 packages of contraband cigarettes, having been launched from inside Belarus. The police are conducting searches to locate the balloons and determine who will recover them. This year, 501 contraband balloons have been detected, 2.2 times more than in 2022.
