Mallorca is facing rising accommodation prices in 2026, due to excessive bookings and intense tourism.

Tourism industry representatives warn that holidays in Mallorca, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, could become more expensive in 2026. This is due to excessive tourism, which has led to the majority of accommodation being booked for the upcoming summer. Last year, the island welcomed over 19 million visitors attracted by its vibrant atmosphere and beaches. New regulations against illegal short-term rentals have increased interest in hotels, resulting in maximum accommodation capacity. Joan Trian Riu, the general manager of Rui Hotels and Resorts, stated that the only available option is to raise prices. Typically, the peak season is in July and August, but there is a noticeable diversification of visitors, including families with children, starting from the early part of the season. Germany remains the main tourist market, although the number of German tourists decreased last year.
