The dismissal of Ukrainian General Dmitro Krasilnikov came after Ukrainian forces rapidly lost controlled territory in the Kursk region. Russian official sources say Ukrainian troops have begun to withdraw from the area. Control of the region was seen as a possible bargaining chip in possible peace talks with Russia.
