Hamas said it was in talks for a truce in the Gaza Strip, stressing that any agreement must lead to the withdrawal of Israeli troops and aid for the population. President Trump announced that Israel had agreed to terms for a ceasefire, but Netanyahu reiterated that his goal remains the destruction of Hamas. The war has resulted in massive casualties, with more than 57,000 Palestinians killed and 49 hostages still held in Gaza.
