The Fort Stewart military base in Georgia was closed Wednesday because of an armed attacker, and five servicemen were shot dead, according to official announcements. Base officials urged personnel to stay indoors and secure their housing. Fort Stewart, the largest military post east of the Mississippi, is home to thousands of soldiers and their families. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is working with authorities to manage the situation.
