The measure has sparked criticism and outrage as it is seen as an additional pressure on employees. Labor Minister Niki Kerameus defended the regulation, stressing that it does not affect the 5-day/40-hour working week established by Greek law. She noted that many other countries in Europe have similar provisions for exceptional extra working days.
