The Greek Ministry of Finance is working on a legislative framework for the integration of digital assets into the tax system, considering the lack of comprehensive legislation regarding the taxation of cryptocurrencies. According to information, the first 500 euros of gains will be exempt from taxation, and a tax of 15% will apply to amounts exceeding this threshold. Individuals who mine cryptocurrencies will not be affected, but registered companies will fall under the tax regime.

The level of cryptocurrency taxation varies in Europe, from 8% in Cyprus to 30% in France. Greek officials acknowledge the difficulty in estimating the size of the local cryptocurrency market, as most investors use external platforms. At the same time, Bitcoin is facing a sharp decline, losing 15% of its value in a week, in the context where investors are turning towards artificial intelligence companies. This volatility and increased competition from other cryptocurrencies and stablecoins affect Bitcoin's status in the market.
