The recent study shows that glaciers will lose 39% of their mass by 2020, contributing to a 113 mm rise in sea level. If current climate policies continue, the loss could reach 76%. This would seriously affect countries that depend on water from melting glaciers. Although the forecast is bleak, researchers stress the importance of reducing global temperatures to save the ice. With the Paris Agreement commitments, it is hoped that global warming can be limited, but it is currently projected to rise by up to 2.9 degrees by 2100.
