Germany will unlock part of its oil reserves, following the recommendation of the International Energy Agency (IEA) to make 400 million barrels from stockpiles available, the largest measure of its kind in IEA history. German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche emphasized that the oil supply situation is tense, especially due to difficulties in the Strait of Hormuz. Reiche stated that Germany will comply with the IEA's request, demonstrating mutual solidarity. This measure comes against the backdrop of rising prices at the pump, influenced by the conflict between the US and Israel with Iran. Additionally, the German government intends to limit the increase in gasoline prices to once a day and to implement stricter antitrust regulations in the energy sector. The United States and Japan will be the main contributors to the release of oil reserves, within the framework of cooperation among the G7, the group of the world's strongest democratic economies.
