Germany will deploy a Patriot system in southeastern Turkey, in the context of threats coming from Iran.

Turkey announced on Wednesday that Germany will send a Patriot missile system, which will be deployed for six months starting in June. This measure comes in response to missile threats from Iran, as part of NATO's efforts to strengthen air defense in southeastern Turkey. In March, an American Patriot system was already deployed near a NATO radar base. The Turkish Ministry of Defense stated that, alongside the Spanish system currently in Turkey, a German system will replace one of the two additional systems deployed by NATO due to the conflict between the USA, Israel, and Iran.

This replacement is planned to be completed in June, and the German system will remain operational for approximately six months. Turkey, despite having the second largest army in NATO, continues to rely on NATO systems for air defense, despite its efforts to develop its own defense industry. Security assessments will continue in coordination with allies.
