German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius has announced an ultimatum to Russia, calling for it to agree to a ceasefire by midnight on May 12/13. If Russia does not yield, Berlin will work with European partners to impose new sanctions. This pressure comes after Russia refused Ukrainian President Zelenski's proposal to accept a 30-day truce. The Kremlin insists peace talks cannot take place without ironing out certain details.
