German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius has confirmed the approval of a preliminary request for the export of Eurofighter jets to Turkey. This is a change from chancellor Olaf Scholz's previous position, which opposed the sale on political grounds. Turkey plans to buy 40 planes assembled in the UK and Germany, part of the Eurofighter consortium, must authorize all exports.
