Several German Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets have taken off from the Nörvenich airbase, heading towards the Polish base in Malbork, to strengthen NATO's eastern flank. This action is a response to recent violations of NATO airspace by Russia, including incursions with kamikaze drones. The German Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, announced the deployment of the aircraft, which will last until March.

The commander of the German air forces, Lieutenant General Holger Neumann, emphasized the importance of this mission for protecting NATO's eastern region, alongside the stationed forces in Romania. The aircraft are accompanied by approximately 150 personnel, including pilots and technicians. This deployment reaffirms Germany's support for Poland and NATO.
