The German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has arrived in the USA to meet with President Donald Trump, with the main topic being the war in the Middle East, especially the American-Israeli attacks on Iran.
Merz expressed concerns about the risks of these attacks but did not comment on any potential violations of international law.
This is his second meeting with Trump, the first taking place in June last year, when the discussions were deemed productive.
Alongside the war in Iran, Trump's tariff policies and the conflict in Ukraine are also on the agenda of discussions.
A recent issue is Trump's desire to acquire Greenland, which has strained relations with Europe.
Merz will discuss these topics in a scheduled meeting expected to last about 30 minutes.
