The trade ministers from G7 member countries met in Paris on Tuesday and Wednesday against the backdrop of rising global economic tensions.

The G7 trade ministers, gathered in Paris, will discuss global economic issues, including the problem of critical minerals, in the context of the war in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which affects oil supply. Although U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened with additional tariffs on European vehicles, this issue will not be addressed within the G7, according to official sources. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated that U.S. trade policies are primarily domestic but complementary to France's priorities as the host of the G7.

The ministers will discuss four priorities: responding to industrial overcapacity, economic security through diversification of critical mineral supply, the failure of negotiations within the World Trade Organization, and regulating cross-border sales through electronic commerce.
