France is preparing to organize a simulation of a national power outage, planned for the year 2027, to assess the country's ability to respond in the event of an energy crisis. This exercise will involve ministries, the military, and energy companies, aiming to determine the time required to restart the electrical grid and maintain the functionality of emergency services.

The simulation is inspired by a power outage that affected Spain and Portugal in 2025. The complete details of the exercise will be announced by the end of the year.

In the context of the heatwave and the devastating fires of the past year, French authorities are also focusing on ensuring emergency supplies, including generators and communication equipment. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has also announced the intention to propose a new law to modernize the disaster response system, following criticism of the management of emergency situations.
