France has announced that it will replace the American platforms Microsoft Teams and Zoom with its own video conferencing platform, Visio, which will be used in all government departments by 2027.

This measure is part of France's strategy to abandon foreign software and regain control over critical digital infrastructure, in the context of increasing concerns about digital sovereignty. Visio, which is in the testing phase and has approximately 40,000 users, is part of the Suite Numérique plan aimed at public officials. The platform includes advanced features such as meeting transcription and speaker diarization, based on artificial intelligence. Transitioning to Visio could reduce licensing costs, saving up to 1 million euros annually for every 100,000 users. This initiative underscores France's commitment to digital sovereignty, in the context of geopolitical tensions and concerns about foreign surveillance.
