A Moscow court has sentenced former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov to 13 years in prison and a fine of 100 million rubles for embezzlement and money laundering. Ivanov, accused of embezzlement, was arrested in April 2024 and is considered a victim of a purge among officials close to former minister Sergei Shigu. His lawyer denounced the trial as an "execution" without solid evidence. Ivanov was involved in military construction projects and has been sanctioned by the European Union.
