Federal Judge Patrick Schiltz has canceled the legal proceedings initiated by the Trump administration against authorities in Minnesota, following a massive operation to arrest immigrants, dubbed 'Metro Surge', which took place at the end of last year. This operation led to the arrest of approximately 4,000 illegal immigrants and was marked by the death of two protesters against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In his ruling, the judge emphasized that the requests for document handover by federal authorities lacked a solid legal basis and that their purpose was to harass officials in Minnesota. He cited a previous decision that annulled similar requests, highlighting a trend of pressure on public officials. This ruling comes in a broader context, in which several individuals targeted by Trump have been subjected to criminal investigations.
