Judge Jia Cobb ruled on Friday to block the broad application of the expedited removal procedure for migrants, used by the Trump administration for the rapid deportation of individuals arrested at the border. This procedure was extended to migrants who had already been on U.S. territory for up to two years, raising concerns about the legality of the government's actions. The judge emphasized that the individuals targeted did not receive a fair legal process, contrary to the protections provided by the 5th Amendment of the Constitution.
