The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Boeing have issued notices confirming the safety of fuel switches on Boeing airplanes after last month's crash of a Boeing 787-8 that killed 260 people. Although the FAA recommended inspections in 2018, these measures were not mandatory and Air India did not conduct them. The ALPA India Pilots Association has called for a fair investigation, pointing to possible equipment malfunctions, while aviation safety experts support pilots' participation in the investigation.
