Belfast was shaken on Tuesday evening by extreme violence following anti-immigration protests triggered by a stabbing attack committed by a Sudanese man.

The incident, which left one victim in critical condition and led to the arrest of the suspect, mobilized far-right activists who called people to the streets. Violent images were shared on social media, generating a strong reaction. Masked protesters set fire to buses and cars, and attacks on homes and shops were reported.

The deputy police chief called for calm, while political leaders condemned the violence, accusing attempts to exploit the attack to fuel social tensions. Prime Minister Michelle O'Neill described the incidents as hooliganism, and immigrant communities in Belfast fear reprisals.
