Pierre Masselot, a statistician at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, warned that the most critical days of the heatwave will be Tuesday and Wednesday, with high death rates in Italy, Croatia, Slovenia and Luxembourg. Extreme temperatures have reached 46 degrees Celsius in Spain, and almost two-thirds of Spanish cities have received health warnings. Fires and air pollution are worsening the situation, with evacuations in Turkey and fires in Albania. The WHO emphasizes the need to adapt to climate change and offers recommendations to protect vulnerable people.
