Trade negotiations between the EU and the Trump administration are intensifying, and the US position on tariffs is becoming more rigid. The EU prefers to continue talks, but progress is limited. The US is proposing a universal tariff of over 10% on most goods imported from the EU, with limited exceptions. In the event of a breakdown in negotiations, the EU will prepare a response plan, but any retaliatory measures require political approval from EU leaders.
