The Entry/Exit System (EES) will replace the manual stamp on passports, recording the entry and exit data of non-EU citizens, including fingerprints and facial images. Although its implementation has been delayed, it will begin on October 12, 2023, with a phased approach. The system aims to improve security, prevent overstays and reduce fraud. Travelers are advised to expect longer waiting times at the border.
