The decision aims to make it easier to process asylum applications from these countries, which will be assessed more quickly and probably rejected. EU migration commissioner Magnus Brunner stressed the importance of assessing each application individually. Pressure for stricter deportation rules is coming from member states, especially from right-wing parties. The list will be constantly reassessed, and debates on the status of other countries continue, exemplified by Greece and Turkey.
