At their summit in Tokyo, EU and Japanese leaders decided to launch a "Japan-EU Alliance for Competitiveness" to strengthen cooperation on economic security and industry. They broadened economic dialogue and agreed to work together on defense, stressing the importance of fair global trade. They also expressed concerns about China's influence and condemned Russia's aggression in Ukraine, pledging to maintain a rules-based international order.
