President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Israel's attacks on Lebanon and Syria have created a situation that threatens Turkey's security as well. In front of the AK Party lawmakers, Erdogan emphasized that Ankara's security is interconnected with that of these two nations.

He accused Israel of conducting a 'covert campaign' of destabilization in Africa and in the Mediterranean region, mentioning the tensions on the ethnically divided island of Cyprus. Erdogan criticized the entities collaborating with Israel, calling them 'Zionist subcontractors' and warned that Turkey will respond firmly if its rights and those of Turkish Cypriots are violated in the eastern Mediterranean.
