In a letter to European leaders, political groups in the European Parliament call for a total arms embargo on Israel and sanctions against the authorities responsible for violations of international law. They say the situation in Gaza can no longer be considered an emergency and that genocide is being committed. The letter calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages and the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement. It also calls for sanctions against settlers to be extended and humanitarian access guaranteed. The European Commission has proposed partially excluding Israel from the 'Horizon Europe' program, but a lack of support from some member states has prevented the measure from being adopted.
