Tourists visiting Venice will pay an access fee on weekends. Find out how the system works.

Starting in April 2026, tourists visiting Venice for a day will be required to pay an access fee on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The measure aims to reduce 'hit and run' tourism, which congests the city.

The fee will be active in April, May, June, and July, between 08:30 and 16:00, with a standard cost of 5 euros, increasing to 10 euros for reservations made less than four days in advance. Exceptions to the fee include residents and tourists with accommodation reservations. Tourists must reserve their day online and obtain a QR code for access.

Authorities believe that the fee is essential for managing tourist flows and protecting public services, considering that the number of beds for tourists has exceeded the number of residents (which has fallen below 50,000).
