The Slovenian authorities are investigating the suspicious activities of the intelligence company Black Cube, which allegedly conducted surveillance operations in Ljubljana, contributing to the emergence of audio recordings involving public figures in discussions about corruption and illegal lobbying.

These materials were published ahead of this Sunday's elections, amplifying tensions between the incumbent Prime Minister Robert Golob and opposition leader Janez Janša. Golob accuses of external intervention aimed at influencing the election outcome, while Janša uses the recordings to accuse the government of corruption.

The authorities emphasize that Black Cube's involvement raises serious security concerns, and Prime Minister Golob stated that any attempt to influence the elections is unacceptable.

Black Cube, known for its controversial methods, has been involved in international scandals, including the Harvey Weinstein case, and is associated with questionable actions in Eastern Europe.
