The new British Foreign Secretary, Ed Miliband, had a meeting on Wednesday with American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in Washington, where journalists tried to address his 2016 statements in which he called Donald Trump an "idiot," "racist," and "misogynist."

When asked if he still holds these views, the British official avoided a direct answer and emphasized the importance of the relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States.

The two officials discussed topics such as the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the war in Ukraine, and the situation in Gaza.

The American ambassador to London, Warren Stephens, expressed hope that Miliband has changed his opinion about Trump, promising cooperation despite disagreements on environmental issues.

The White House has expressed concerns regarding Miliband's appointment as head of the Foreign Office, according to media sources.
