The airline company EasyJet has rejected the third takeover bid made by the American group Castlelake, valued at £4.7 billion, arguing that the proposal does not accurately reflect the growth prospects and financial position of the British operator.

Castlelake announced the offer of £6.25 per share, which represents a premium of 59% compared to the price of £3.94 per share on May 28. EasyJet's management emphasized that the company's profit has increased by 46% in the last two years and that its goal is to exceed £1 billion in pre-tax profit in the coming years. EasyJet considers the Castlelake offer to be "extremely opportunistic," given the uncertainties generated by the conflict in the Middle East and rising fuel costs.

Although EasyJet shares rose by over 3% after the announcement of the offer, they remain below the proposed price. Castlelake has until the end of the week to make a firm offer or abandon the takeover.
